Artist Profile – Elizabeth Moyle
Elizabeth Moyle's work explores various concepts around whom and what is a sentient being. Initially this stemmed from an inquiry into farm animals, but graduated to an overall investigation on how society treats animals and the land on which they live and how this is a reflection of society itself. Having graduated from Christchurch Polytechnic with a bachelor of visual arts in March 2008, Moyle then spent the majority of the year traveling around Europe. This gave Moyle an insight into how different cultures behave and has resulted in a broadening of her work beyond the treatment of animals to an overall inquiry into what can and can not be owned.
