Artist Profile – Nicole Bourke

The foundations of Nicola Bourke’s practice are based on the natural world. She explores the fictional constructions of nature, creating an imagined environment which draws the viewer in to a surreal space. Photographic material is manipulated, images are cut, colours are altered and two-dimensional form become three-dimensional with Nature reconstructed to create an imagined environment.

Nicola Bourke completed a Bachelor in Fine Arts (majoring in Printmaking) at Canterbury University in 2008. She participated in the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts exhibition, Constructed Narratives, at COCA in January 2008. This is her first solo show at the Centre of Contemporary Art.
