Helen Becconsall’s paintings have consistently moved between a figuration and abstraction that has equally been realised through an instinctive and rational approach to the construction of images. Over-riding this iconography has been a regard and optimism for colour and gesture. Becconsall has exhibited in Christchurch and Auckland since 2005 at COCA Gallery and Warwick Henderson in solo and group exhibitions. She has also been a finalist in the COCA Anthony Harper Award for Contemporary Art.
