Linda James - 'Love Story / Precious Lives II'

'Love Story/ Previous Lives II' encompasses a series of large paintings derived from images of bombings from the newspaper. These real and deliberately catastrophic events move via the camera and cyberspace to re-emerge into the smallness of everyday life as illustrations for political events. I have enlarged them as paintings with particular reference to the modernist movement in Western Art: - Cubism and Abstract Expressionism. A breakdown and re-interpretation of reality, but in reverse order, to reflect how reality can be simultaneously absolutely precious and completely inconsequential.
