“The aim of this show is to create a body of work that states simply through reverence and appreciation, my feelings towards a subject matter that has always been in the background but never directly tackled. In ‘Transalpine’ the Southern Alps are glanced out of the corner of my eye while traveling at speed. What is taken in at a glance often has an immediate nostalgia associated with it, making the image more poignant because of its being irretrievable. I would like to think that the paintings act in a similar way conjuring up an image in the viewers mind just long enough so as to feel its departure.” Simon Edwards 2009
