Working in
a range of media from organic matter to discarded manufactured materials,
Riley challenges the viewer with work that can at times be uncomfortable.
Using a multi disciplinary approach Riley presents her latest body of
works concerned with
the flawed body, decay, infection and mortality; an exploration of the
'body in pieces'.
The confrontation with decay is incompatible with socially promoted ideals
of the flawless and contained body. Residue serves as an unwanted reminder
of infection
and mortality.
