Claire Thornley - Lost and Found

Open Gallery, 15th February–13th March 2011

This series of paintings began from a commissioned work the artist completed in 1998 for an advertising company on behalf of their client. Twelve years on, Thornley has decided to revisit the work to re-examine and deconstruct her painting process and evaluate just how it had lead her into a new and challenging stage of her career. The works in Lost and Found are based on forms found in a vineyard in North Canterbury, where Claire feels drawn to paint the local landscape.
