Following a highly successful exhibition in 2008 Asher Newbery presents a new body of work that deconstructs the biblical story of Noah’s ark. Newbery comments that this acts as a reference to discuss wider themes of ‘death, destruction and salvation. By using native New Zealand birds I intend to bring this age old story into a New Zealand context.’ The exhibition consolidates and develops ideas examined in previous work in which the relationships between native and exotic birdlife and humanities engagement with the natural environment
