In this new series, Kathie Watson offers this collection of work to the memory of the late Pat Hanly reflecting on his exuberant use of primary colours and his fundamental commitment to a celebration of life and being.
Watson has overlaid many applications of enamel to realise a body of paintings that pay tribute to modernist traditions of making art, with the process itself, a joyful a means of discovery and evolution in artist’s practice. Watson is a well-known Canterbury artist who has exhibited in a series of solo exhibitions at COCA over the past five years. Her work is held in numerous private collections throughout New Zealand and overseas.
