Emma Fitts paintings explore both the processes and materials of this practice and the relationship that art objects establish within the gallery environment. Developing works from 2007 that literally appeared to be contained or pulsating within the gallery wall, Fitts’ art has now established more subtle and paradoxical relationships, in canvases that act as singular art objects that are equally wrapped or contained in the environments that they inhabit. Since 2003 Fitts has exhibited at the High Street Project, COCA, Enjoy Gallery and most recently, the Physics Room. In 2009 she is attending the Glasgow School of Art to complete an MFA.
