COCA Board Art 2008

Board Art is a celebration of underground culture with the goal of showcasing New Zealand and Australia’s creative talent, from emerging artists and designers to highly regarded creatives with an established reputation in either field. Approximately 50 artists have been selected and invited to participate in Board Art 2008.A unique feature of this event is the opportunity for students to exhibit alongside successful and influential artists and once again Board Art will include work by students at intermediate, secondary and tertiary levels who have submitted successful designs in the popular Board Art Competition

Now in its 6th year, Board Art has developed into a highly successful exhibition with increasing participation from local, national and international artists with diverse backgrounds and approaches.

Previous contributors to Board Art have included:  Dick and Otis Frizzell, Michel Tuffery, Mark Braunias, Philip Trusttum, Dylan Horrocks, Jane Dodd, Askew, DCypher, Brett Chan, Shepherd Fairey and Ed Templeton.

The mix of styles, ages and backgrounds in Board Art is united by the skill of the participants in working within the format and their belief in skateboard art as an art form of excellence. This years’ exhibition will undoubtedly be the most extensively participated and attended yet and all boards in this exhibition will be available for purchase.
